Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" area. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. They often believe it's an island to the to the west of Montreal however it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine as well as West. The West Island is frequently referred to as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was short. Brugel was raised on Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. The first goal she had was to pursue a career as an actress however, after a rapid expansion, she and her partner weren't able to dance along with her. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet 1 inches." Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement by her drama instructor at her high school which pushed her to take the step she wanted. The teacher recommended that she audition for an annual school production. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the school's annual production. This led to her being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. For the past twenty years, Brugel's roles on television and the big screen have been varied. The role of Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel, the only Canadian in the season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
